The Gus draws inspiration from the unforgettable character Gus McCrae of Lonesome Dove, a man who carried the easy confidence and quiet toughness of the old cattle drives. His hat became just as recognizable as the character himself, worn low against the sun with the kind of shape that feels earned over years in the saddle. This style honors that spirit, a hat for those who appreciate the grit, humor, and independence that defined the old West.

The brim has a wider, deeper pull down with a round transition front corners create a balanced look that carries both presence and practicality.
A Classic Buckaroo Style Inspired by the Horsemanship
From the foothills of Wyoming’s Big Horn Mountains comes the influence behind this timeless Western style. Buck Brannaman, one of the great horsemen of our time and a student of Tom Dorrance and Ray Hunt, helped bring the Buckaroo tradition to a wider audience through his clinics and horsemanship. This hat reflects that heritage, carrying the quiet confidence and practical character of the old vaqueros who shaped the traditions of the Western horseman.
